About the Cottage

Thimble Cottage is the sort of place you’ll want to move into and never leave.

A gorgeously well-appointed cottage in Higher Batson, with glorious colour schemes, soft furnishings to die for, a log burner that (in the winter) you wouldn’t want to leave the side of, and a kitchen that will give you serious envy.

The Space

It’s homely and comfortable whilst also modern with all the ‘high tech spec’ you could wish for. Tastefully decorated in subtle shades following an extensive remodelling and modernisation by the new owners.

This is a pinnacle seaside home, set on a quiet lane leading into the leafy estuary hamlet of Batson and Batson Creek.

Built across three floors, the ground and first floor are available to guests: there’s a patio area with outside lounging and dining furniture, plus a barbecue. On a lower level there is a split-level garden too – enclosed by high enough hedges for privacy but still offering views across the hamlet and surrounding fields. Whilst well behaved children are welcome, sadly dogs are not. There is parking for two cars.

A reception and dining room are skilfully woven together to provide comfort and convenience, with the beautiful and well-appointed kitchen adjacent, all laid out in an open-plan living space.

Guest Access

Batson is three minutes from Salcombe and fifteen minutes from Kingsbridge.

* There is one steep hill on the walk back to Thimble Cottage from Salcombe. Elderly or less mobile may find this tricky. *

Location

This is a very comfortable and well-equipped property within easy walking distance to Salcombe and close to beautiful coastal walks. Overlooking the head of pretty Batson Creek, a (mostly) level meandering walk of approximately ¾-mile via the banks of the tidal estuary leads into Island Street and to Salcombe itself, with its beautiful sailing harbour, sandy beaches, narrow streets, and stunning views.

Reviews

Absolutely loved our stay at the cottage - the house is beautiful and extremely well setup for a family. We couldn't recommend the property enough, and would happily stay again - the hosts have really done a great job with it.
